Provider fee visibility
See transfer fees, FX spread, and payout amount together instead of comparing isolated headline rates.
A free currency converter with live exchange rates shows you the real mid-market rate, the benchmark used between banks, for any currency pair. This is not the rate your transfer provider gives you. Providers add a markup above the mid-market rate that represents their revenue on the conversion. On $1,000, a 3% markup costs $30 invisibly. PayinGlobal provides a free live currency converter alongside comparison of 100+ providers so you can see both the real rate and the cheapest option for your transfer in one place.

A live currency converter shows the current mid-market exchange rate for any currency pair, updated continuously from market data feeds. The mid-market rate is the midpoint between the buy and sell prices for a currency on the interbank market. It is the rate banks use when trading with each other, and the reference rate shown on Google, Reuters, Bloomberg, and XE.
This rate is not available to retail customers making international transfers. Retail providers apply a markup above the mid-market rate when converting currency. The difference between the mid-market rate and your provider's rate, expressed as a percentage, is the exchange rate markup, which is their revenue on your conversion.
Knowing the current mid-market rate before an international transfer gives you a benchmark to evaluate your provider's offered rate. Without this benchmark, there is no way to know whether the rate your provider offers is competitive or excessive. Banks apply 2.5% to 4.5% above mid-market. Specialist providers apply 0.3% to 1.5%. Knowing the mid-market rate is the first step in identifying how much each option actually costs.
A currency converter that shows only the mid-market rate without provider comparison solves the benchmark problem but not the comparison problem. You know the real rate, but you still need to find which provider gets closest to it for your corridor and amount.
Enter your transfer amount and currency pair in the converter to see the current mid-market equivalent. Then compare this against the rate offered by your intended provider. The percentage difference is the markup. Multiply by your transfer amount to see the absolute cost of the conversion margin on your specific transfer.
A $5,000 transfer at a 3% markup above mid-market costs $150 in FX margin, in addition to any flat fee. A $10,000 transfer at 3% costs $300. Most bank statements show only the flat fee. The FX margin is absorbed into the conversion rate. A live currency converter benchmarked against the mid-market makes this invisible cost visible.
PayinGlobal provides a free live currency converter showing the current mid-market rate alongside real-time rate comparison from 100+ providers for your specific corridor and transfer amount. You see the real benchmark rate and every provider's offered rate in the same view, with the FX markup percentage and exact recipient amount for each. No account is required. The tool covers 180+ currency pairs, updates continuously, and returns results in under 60 seconds.
Additional tools include SWIFT code lookup, IBAN validator, historical rate charts, and multi-currency invoice generation. All are free, require no registration, and are accessible for any amount and currency pair.
A currency converter that shows only the mid-market rate is a benchmark tool. A comparison tool that shows what 100+ providers will actually give you on top of that benchmark is what turns the benchmark into a saving.
